Laser inspection and modelling of shoe components in automatic stitching

چکیده
This paper describes work relating to the laser-based inspection of shoe uppers loaded into a pallet prior to the sewing operation. Shape modelling from scanned edge data is divided into two steps: significant point detection and curve fitting. Methods for identifying significant points such as knots and corner points are discussed, with examples given for a range of typical shoe component shapes. Techniques are proposed for stitch path generation from an edge model, the detection of badly loaded components and the detection of local defects along an edge.
